VMworld 2021 Imagine that

Posted on September 27, 2021

Next week VMworld 2021 Imagine that will kick off virtually again. This is the second year virtual and even though I miss meeting colleague’s, partners and customers in real life VMware is really making a push for another great effent.

In this blog I share some really interesting sessions to which I am looking forward. Some really interesting topics I am attending are around EUC, Tanzu and automation.

Table of Contents

  • Session to follow
    • Tanzu:
    • vSAN
    • VDI / EUC
  • Final thoughts

Session to follow

So here are some of the session I would advice you to follow.

Tanzu:

Getting Started with vSphere with Tanzu [MCL1648]

This session will introduce vSphere admins to VMware Tanzu. Covering requirements and basic setups configurations for Tanzu K8s clusters. Also this session covers the latest updates and changed to Tanzu configurations and management.

As VMware is stating: If you’re a vSphere admin who is just getting started with Kubernetes, this is a great session to take.

The Fast Path to Kubernetes with VMware Tanzu [APP1630]

Do you want to know more about the difference between Tanzu basic and Tanzu Standard? Then this is the session for you. Kendrick Coleman will go into some of the core details of Tanzu portfolio and might also explore Tanzu Kubernetes Grid. I really think this session is great for vSphere admins and DevOps teams.

An End-to-End Demo of Day 0 to Day 2 VMware Tanzu Management with vRealize [APP1586]

In a world where monitoring and automation is key this session must be on your to watch list.

Settings up the vRealize suite to monitor and manage Tanzu, that is what this session is all about.

vSAN

vSAN Technical Deep Dive [MCL1654]

This is always a session I really look forward to. Getting news around the latest developments around vSAN like vSAN File Services, HCI Mesh and VMware vSphere Lifecycle Manager is really exciting.

For me this session is suited for both new and current vSAN users. And secondly if you are interested in some hands on with these new features you can always do a hands-on lab: What’s new in vSAN – Getting Started [GWS-HOL-2208-71-GWS]

VDI / EUC

VDI Nerdfest 2021: Demos That Make Admins Drool [EUS1289]

Last year Johan Van Amersfoort presented The Nerdfest VDI Demo and it awesome. I mean really, a very informative session so I was not surprised to see another VDI Nerdfest session on the catalog. In my opinion this is a must watch session. So be ready for some next-level demo’s and real world use cases.

Nerd Tours: A Tech Deep Dive of the VDI NerdFest 2021 Extravaganza [EUS3107]

I cannot do more justice to the description of this session than VMware did so here their description of this session:

Have you ever attended a session and were left asking “What are they using there?” For the first time ever, Master Jedi Obi-Jon Kenobi and the Elusive Rapscallion Jo-Han Solo are going to share their secrets with you! In session EUS1289, they have amazing demos that bring so many technologies together to deliver an amazing experience. Now, our EUC heroes will team up and take you for an exclusive backstage tour of their VDI NerdFest 2021 Extravaganza! Come watch how you can build Day 0 onboarding in the real-world while integrating it with your backend systems like Workday, Service-Now, and more. But wait there’s more!!! You will see how you can tightly integrate VMware Horizon, Project VXR for Virtual Reality, and so much more. Buckle your seatbelts and grab some snacks because this is going to be a bumpy ride!

Final thoughts

Remember every session is recorded and you can watch them all after VMworld 2021 Imagine that has concluded. Also if you have not registered yet for this years edition there is still some time left, and the cool thing is: VMware plants a three for every participant. So you give a little back as well by signing up.
